In general, when we feel good, we are more likely to do good and to be kind, which helps to make the world a nicer place. The concept sounds simple, right? Yet, we get stuck, we get off track and stop our healthy routines. We end up on the couch, with a bag of Cheetos, binge-watching the Walking Dead (Full transparency I prefer Salted Caramel Ice Cream). Then, we feel sluggish, unsuccessful in our attempts at discipline, and moody towards life.
How do we get back on track?
As a Coach, my main role is to facilitate lasting lifestyle changes through collaborative conversations. However, being a Coach is much more than being an accountability partner. The key concept in Coaching is to help you find your core reason for creating change. Knowing “why” you want to make a lifestyle change is what helps to get you back on track, and stay on track.
In one of my coaching sessions, a client told me that she wanted to lose some weight. I inquired into why she wanted to lose the weight and she gave some common reasons, such as looking better, feeling lighter, fitting into clothes better, living longer, increasing energy, and so on. However, she didn’t seem excited about going through the challenge of losing weight. I questioned how her life would be different when she loses the weight. She started to get a bit more excited at the prospect of having more energy to go for longer hikes with her husband and wearing a new dress at an upcoming family party. Then, her face softened. She smiled, and she said, “so I can dance at my granddaughter’s wedding.” She then told me that her granddaughter was three years old. She found her “why”.
Coaching helps you to uncover your why for making lasting lifestyle changes. When you have your “why”, the “how” gets much easier.

Coaching sessions start with a complimentary 30-minute, initial phone consultation to answer questions and schedule your first session, if you decide to continue. Then, the first coaching session usually takes 1.5 hours to get to know each other, discuss what you are looking to accomplish though Coaching, and give us direction in the follow-up sessions. The follow-up sessions allow you to brainstorm ideas, create goals and an action plan, evaluate your progress, and discuss successes and ideas for overcoming any obstacles.
We work together through collaborative communication to build a lasting plan that works for you.

I started practicing yoga in 1999 after I graduated from college as a low impact exercise program to reduce stress and anxiety. I found that a regular yoga practice lowered my blood pressure, regulated my heart rate, increased my endurance, improved my ability to handle stress, reduced my frequency of illness, improved my sleep patterns, strengthened my physical body and increased my overall sense of well-being. I was hooked and wanted to share the benefits of yoga with others, so I studied to be a yoga teacher.
I have been teaching traditional Hatha yoga since 2002, and am now a full-time yoga teacher. My style of teaching is meditative in nature to provide an environment that allows participants to feel balanced both physically and mentally. I specialize in helping people adapt yoga poses to fit their own personal physical alignment needs and abilities, at all levels of yoga practice, in order to avoid injury. My main focus is on alignment, core strength, an open heart, a focused mind and a relaxed breath.
My goal is to share my experience of yoga with others. Currently, most of my classes are in private communities or in the corporate sector. I am available for individual private lessons, private group classes and special events.
Private Yoga Lessons
People take private yoga lessons for the following reasons.
- To get started and stay motivated
- To make sure they are doing yoga correctly and safely
- To adapt the yoga poses for specific physical challenges
- To advance their current practice into more challenging poses than what is available in class
- To create a routine that addresses a specific need, like weight loss, insomnia, anxiety, depression, or PTSD
Private yoga lessons offer the following benefits.
- Personal one-on-one guidance with a professional, certified, experienced yoga teacher to specifically address individual needs
- A customized yoga routine
- The ability to practice yoga in the comfort of your own home, at a time convenient for you
- Personalized instruction at a reasonable cost
Several options are available with private lessons. The initial private lesson includes a basic physical evaluation for general strength and standard range of motion, as well as a consultation, to better create more customized routine. Then, follow up lessons, focus on goals established in the initial consultation. A person may take a private lesson on a weekly basis, or every few weeks. Phone consultations and emails are included, as needed. The private lessons are usually held in the comfort of your own home, but other arrangements can be made.

Living Room Lessons – Yoga Series
Start your day with this 25-minute gentle yoga and meditation video. The first in a series of complimentary yoga and meditation videos called Living Room Lessons. Stretch, get moving, and calm your mind before going out into the world. This laidback video is an inviting practice for all levels of yoga and meditation. The yoga routine starts seated and moves to standing. No yoga mat required, no need to get on the floor, and no reason to delay in building healthier habits.
